Iran beaten by USA’s Select-Overtake at William Jones Cup

USA’s Select-Overtake brought to an end to Iran’s four-match winning run in the 2015 William Jones Cup on Wednesday.

Team Iran lost to Select-Overtake 81-66 in the match held at the Xinchuang Gymnasium, New Taipei City.
Calvin Warner erupted for 34 points, 12 rebounds and four assists for Team USA. Yonas Lalehzadeh scored 12 points and Saeid Davarpana added 11 points for Iran in the loss.

Iran has been scheduled to meet the Philippines on Thursday.

Three-time winner Iran is preparing for the 2015 FIBA Asia Championships.

The 2015 William Jones Cup is the 37th edition of the basketball tournament. The event is held at the Xinzhuang Gymnasium in New Taipei City, Taiwan from August 29 to September 6, 2015.



The competition features national teams from Asia and professional basketball teams from United States, New Zealand and Russia.



This year's edition of the Jones Cup is using a single round robin format. The team with the best win-loss record will be declared the tournament champion.
